Manchester City women’s team have continued their success

Manchester City women’s team have continued their success and good form in the domestic league by securing a 2-1 win overReading Women.

The result maintains their unbeaten run in the last few weeks and it also extends the lead at the top of the table to 7 points over Chelsea Ladies.City, though, have played one game more than Chelsea Ladies. Izzy Christiansen gave Manchester City an advantage straightaway by scoring in the first half. Her England teammate Toni Duggan came up with an excellent goal from 18 yards out to make it 2-0 with only 10 minutes left in the game .Reading Women’s Lauren Bruton scored a goal late on but it was just a consolation from the penalty spot.

City have now managed to win nine matches in the opening 11 games. This impressive form sees them being branded as the favourites for the league title. Meanwhile, the other end of the table presents a different picture sinceReading Women are left searching for their first win of the season even now. They remain perilously close to the relegation zone with only a six-point difference separating them from the bottom club, Doncaster Rovers Belles. Just asReading Women, Sunderland Ladies also seem to be in the relegation trouble after having taken the same number of points.

Chelsea and Liverpool Match Ended up with Full Entertainment

The women’s team of Chelsea and Liverpool were involved in an entertaining 6-3 win, which saw the former keep up their 100% start to the campaign.


Liverpool opened the scoring after just a minute, but Chelsea were level through Carney a few minutes later. From the first whistle, the game seemed be heading for a rollercoaster ride and it indeed proved to be the case. Chelsea, though, would have envisaged the game going very differently at half-time, as they went in with a 4-1 lead at halftime. Fran Kirby, Drew Spence and EniolaAluko were the scorers for the blues to give this advantage.

Liverpool came out fighting in the second half. Chelsea were stunned to see goals from Emma Lundh and Caroline Weir told Liverpool close to an unlikely point from the game. However, they responded to once again by scoring twice in the space of four minutes to secure three points. The result may be a disappointing one for Chelsea especially considering that the next game is against Arsenal in the FA Cup final for women’s teams. After having won the title last season, Chelsea would have been looking to go into the match on a good run of form but not having conceded three goals at home. Continue reading →
