  1. 1) Go to Google
    2) Type in “Top Footballers (or Soccer players) in the world”
    3) Look at any list on the first page. You’ll see out of most top 10 lists, you’ll find maybe 1 African player out of 10. Almost all the players are from Spain, Argentina, Holland, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Uruguay, or Portugal

  2. Don’t kid yourself…there is a larger proportioned ratioof Black pro soccer players in Europe than Whites…

  3. What is it with Lalas and the whole US Federation trying to sugar coat their failures??? These motherfuckers jump the gun about being the “Kings of Concacaf” but stick their heads in the sand when it comes to criticism… If they talk the talk about being up with the big boys they should get the same amount of criticism like the big boys..

  4. Don’t care about the Olympic qualifiers??? LOL keep saying that and overlook the past failures from the U-17 and U-20… Ten years has passed and still they haven’t found a replacement for Donovan or Dempsey..

  5. Oh, I can assure you Soccer will be big in London. You kidding me? THAT is the reason these qualifiers were important.
Anyhow….my point is (besides Nashville isn’t a soccer city) USA should be able to qualify to every single international tournament. First, because we play in a shitty and poor confederation, and secondly to gain experience competing against other soccer forces once we’ve qualified, at an early age.

  6. It’s almost like saying fans should be ticket season holders of the reserve league games.

Soccer in the Olympics is not an attraction, yes it’s great to compete in them but it is only to help young players grow, and not a lot of people attend the Olympic soccer games either >_>.

  7. Well if you don’t want to believe me over the Concacaf issue you have the Internet right in front of you to look this up if you don’t believe me but idc believe what you will >_>.

And it’s not like US soccer has never been to Nashville before considering that he senior team gets nice support when they played there(and they play there often). And the U-23 have played in soccer cities and attendance has been lower, and these games aren’t heavily market either because it is a youth soccer event.

  8. There was good talent within this group. THAT is what it hurts the most. INEPT COACHING is what screwed our hopes to go to London.
I guess Klinsman hasn’t have enough time to evaluate whom he has working in the other different youth programs we have in place. Because if he did, this COLLEGE COACH wouldn’t have been commanding a group of PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS playing against other PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN NATIONAL TEAMS. He just didn’t have the experience to do it.

  9. And sorry if I called Nashville (your city?) “fucking city” but I was extremely mad about the attendances and support our Nat. Team received in that town
    Cheers.
Joe from New York Fuckin City

  10. Dude, CONCACAF only approves them. Yes, it was a CONCACAF sanctioned tournament, but are you gonna tell me USSF didn’t present them for their consideration? And they just out of the blue demanded for USA to play in Nashville? No!. We wrongly proposed a city where soccer hasn’t called the attention of a good sector of its sports fans. Is the truth.
Anyways we’re out of competition, is too late now. I only hope next time we won’t play there. Just keep our Nat. Teams in Columbus, Seattle & Portland

  11. There was an average of 8,000 people attending each US game and we drew 10,000 against Canada which was on a weekend. Mexico was the only team to have more support on average and it was only about by 1,000

And yes CONCACAF does choose the venues for qualifiers because it’s their event not US soccers. Federations are only allowed to choose for friendlies, because if the USSF were able to choose the cities without CONCACAF’s authority we wouldn’t have played Mexico in Cali during the Gold Cup.

  12. I know, but you also know at the Olympics you can bring a few players (5 I believe) that aren’t U-23. So the interest increases
Any other AMERICAN SOCEER CITY would have had a better attendance at their stadiums. Not Nashville
Maybe not all sport fans cared about these qualifiers, but for the 10 percent of americans that love and follow our Nat Soccer Teams we knew how important is to have a good and successful U-23 squad, since these players are supposedly be joining the USMNT in a near future

  13. yeah but they are all the U-23 teams the only two players on the US Squad that where ever on the USMNT where Freddy Adu and Brek Shea.

  14. No man, there were less than 5.000 people at L.P.. Crew Stadium holds close to 35.000
CONCACAF doesn’t dictates the city and venue where a country plays, they only approve them after the federations put them for consideration. There’s no one venue in USA that shouldn’t be approved for an official game.
Nashville doesn’t even has a MLS team (NOT A SOCCER CITY) How in hell we decided to play there, beats me
The few lazy idiots at L.P. didn’t even move behind the Salvadorian Goal in the 1st half

  15. But we LOVE the Olympics. Don’t tell me americans wouldn’t have liked to see them play in the Olympics. Especially when these are in London.
In Sydney we disputed the bronze medal. Our biggest achievement (modern era) in this sport. Every competing athlete is another chance for a medal, and we Americans want to keep our supremacy in this event. So yeah, we do care.
And whom do you think we were going meet there? You said it. “Hard” countries like Italy and Brazil.

  16. nobody cares about the U23 or Olympic team. We only care about the USMNT and when we play hard countries like Italy and Brazil or the World Cup.

  17. I’m talking about against Mexico we’re out numbered regularly every time we play them. I am not talking about MLS attendance’s >_>.

  18. Trust me there’s American support out there just look at the attendance of the MLS compared to the NBA and the MLB the MLS has surpassed them both which means there’s interest in soccer the networks just need to promote it better. I’m not saying it won’t take time but it’s getting there. One day we won’t be the only country to never play a ‘home’ game in international play believe me.

  19. I guarantee you Mexico plays 70% of their games in the United States. The Mexican support will almost always be better than the US regardless where they play until more Americans start to care. An again confederations control everything in terms of venues and ticket sells so idk what your talking about other countries controlling ticket sales.

  20. That’s very true. I think some of the better younger players are already on the top Men’s team, so I can see the USMNT staff thinking that these players can be the anchor of the guys that will come up and join them in a few years.

  21. I agree totally. The Mexicans always play at the Azteca Stadium because they know they’ll have 100% support and that stadium gets in other teams heads. We need to find our ‘Azteca’ to make sure we support our guys to the fullest and only sell a certain amount of tickets to rival teams like every other team in the world. If the CONCACAF doesn’t like it tell to piss off, it’s time to stop being the ‘whore’ of the federation

  22. 1) NFL stadiums are much larger in size, and if the games were indeed in Crew stadium the support we had at LP field would probably almost be a sellout in Columbus.

    2) Mexico played in California with a large Mexican population and it’s no secret they care more.

    3) CONCACAF decides the venues not the USSF.
