Durham Ladies endured more disappointment after suffering a 2-0 defeat

Durham Ladies endured more disappointment after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The disappointment largely stems from the fact that the team has managed only one goal in the last four matches. In fact, in the opening eight matches of the season, they have scored only 10 league goals. This poor run of form is threatening to keep them near the foot of theWomen’s Super League Two table. Manager Lee Sanders, though, remains confident that the players will be able to regain their confidence in the coming weeks.

Despite this poor run of form,Sanders has tried to look at the positives and one of them is the number of chances that the team has been creating. It is the efficiency of converting those chances that has taken a beating in the last five matches. After having scored nine goals from the first four matches, one would have thought thatSanders will have no trouble in getting his team near the top of the table. However, the form has nosedived since the last international break andSanders has admitted to a lot of inconsistencies with regard to form. A quickfire solution will be to use the transfer window to improve the squad andSanders cannot wait for the mid-season window. Continue reading →

Hope Solo is considered to be one of the top goal-keepers in the world

The 2 time Olympic gold medalist who has made over 160 appearances for the United States national team, Hope Solo is considered to be one of the top goal-keepers in the world and one of the most important players in the American national side but not everything in the life of Hope Solo is going picture perfect as the 33 year old shot-stopper was suspended for 30 days due to a number of incidents which have been occurring recently involving the experienced goal-keeper.

The husband of Hope Solo is Jerramy Stevens and the player of the Seattle Seahawks was arrested after having been found driving under the influence and Hope Solo was in the car at that time but she wasn’t arrested but according to reports and statements from the police, Solo was reacting aggressively and doing unnecessary things in the passenger seat to the officials.

In June of 2014, Hope Solo was also charged with 2 ccounts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault after being believed that she hit her half-sister and nephew but the judge dismissed those charges due to a lack of cooperation from witnesses.

Nonetheless, even if those charges were dismissed it is clear that something is going on with Hope Solo and the head coach of the U.S Women’s National, Jill Ellis announced the suspension of the American goal-keeper with a statement that read: “During our current National Team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates. We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team.” Continue reading →
