The women’s team of Chelsea and Liverpool were involved in an entertaining 6-3 win, which saw the former keep up their 100% start to the campaign.
Liverpool opened the scoring after just a minute, but Chelsea were level through Carney a few minutes later. From the first whistle, the game seemed be heading for a rollercoaster ride and it indeed proved to be the case. Chelsea, though, would have envisaged the game going very differently at half-time, as they went in with a 4-1 lead at halftime. Fran Kirby, Drew Spence and EniolaAluko were the scorers for the blues to give this advantage.
Liverpool came out fighting in the second half. Chelsea were stunned to see goals from Emma Lundh and Caroline Weir told Liverpool close to an unlikely point from the game. However, they responded to once again by scoring twice in the space of four minutes to secure three points. The result may be a disappointing one for Chelsea especially considering that the next game is against Arsenal in the FA Cup final for women’s teams.
